Game Quest Finalist for Premier’s People’s Choice Award
Prince George, B.C. – Kelsey Polnik has circled February 26th on his calendar.
That’s the day the owner of Game Quest in Prince George will find out whether or not his company will win the Premier’s People’s Choice Award as one of BC’s best businesses.
Game Quest, which buys and sells anything related to video games, is one of just five businesses across the province to be nominated.
He admits the nod caught him off guard.
“It was a really nice surprise. Someone from the community nominated us, so we had nothing to do with getting into this.”
Polnik figures the business drummed up some postive vibes last year when they were having some issues with a municipal bylaw in town.
“I think the way we handled it, getting the community involved and going about it the right way, really bought us a lot of good will with people.”
Game Quest first opened in September 2013 and will soon move to a larger location to expand into arcade and table-top games.
So what’s his secret to success?
“I think people that come in feel that there’s no corporate atmosphere. If something doesn’t work well we’ll make it work for them. We don’t have strict rules in place, we like to be flexible and try to help people get what they want.”
And if Game Quest doesn’t win the award?
“Like I said, I didn’t think we had a shot to even get in the top 5 so I’m not holding my breath we’re going to win, but just being in the top 5 is cool enough.”

Good luck :)
I was looking for a wire for an older game system. I couldn’t find one anywhere. One of the other businesses in town sent me down to Game Quest. Amazing little store!!!! He’s got everything in there. I walked in, and 2 minutes later I was walking out with the wire I needed. Super prices and great customer service! I hope he wins!
