Kitimat, B.C. – Pickets have gone up at the District of Kitimat.

The job action by members of Unifor Local 2300 has closed the following facilities:

Riverlodge Recreation Centre
Tamitik Arena/Kitimat Ice Rink
Sam Lindsay Aquatic Centre

According to Chief Administrative Officer Ron Poole the Municipal Office and Public Works Yard may be behind picket lines.

The Municipal office is still open for limited services this week but building inspection will not be available during the strike.

However, the landfill will remain open and residential garbage collection will continue on the regular schedule.

In addition, RCMP, Fire Department and BC Ambulance services will remain operational.
