Run for Fun Returns
Prince George, B.C. – A popular, esteem-building program for females makes its return next week.
Organized by RCMP Victim Services and Community Policing, the Girls’ Run for Fun targets girls from the ages of 10 to 15 years.
“The girls meet at the band shell at Fort George Park and begin each session with a speaker who will discuss important issues like drug/alcohol awareness, social media safety, nutrition, self-esteem, and healthy lifestyle choices,” says community policing coordinator Linda Parker.
The program is in its fifth year, and is funded by the Ministry of Children and Family Development.
It’s free and runs from May 5th to June 18th, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 4:00-5:15pm.
Over 50 girls participated in the program last year, which wraps up with a 5k race and picnic in the park, on Saturday, June 20th this year.
Those interested in learning more can email Linda Parker at linda.parker@princegeorge.ca or can pick up registration packages at Community Policing, at the RCMP detachment located on Victoria Street.
