RCMP Involved in Head-On Collision

Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George RCMP have released more details on this morning’s crash involving a police vehicle and another vehicle on 15 Mile Road (see previous story here).

Corporal Craig Douglass says it all started last night when police received a report of a break & enter and stolen vehicle (1999 GMC pick-up) from a home east of town on Fairway Road.

He says this morning police received a report of possibly the same truck “being aggressively driven through Prince George” near Brigade Drive and Kerry Street.

Douglass says a short time later the same truck was spotted travelling at a high rate of speed near the Simon Fraser Bridge and notes by 9 police received a tip the same truck was on 15 Mile Road, just south of the City.

Two Police Service Dog vehicles arrived on scene only to have the suspect vehicle accelerate head on into the police vehicles.

Douglass says the driver “was combative but arrested” before being transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

He says one officer required minor medical attention and was released.

Douglas says the suspect is a 21 year old Prince George man who had an outstanding arrest warrant for carrying a concealed weapon, mischief, and failing to comply with conditons.

As 250 News reported earlier today, the Independent Investigations is aware of the incident and is waiting to hear if the male’s injuries are serious, as the IIO can only investigate police incidents where there has been a fatality or where a person has suffered ‘serious harm’.
