Another Wildfire Noted
Williams Lake, B.C.- Crews from the Wildfire Management Branch are now responding to a lightning sparked wildfire about 10 kms northeast of Pelican Lake, and 80 kms northwest of Quesnel.
The fire is estimated to be 250 hectares in size.
There are 20 firefighters and two helicopters on site. There are more than 45 additional staff including sustained action crews, a specialized Incident Management Team, and other support staff on their way to the scene. Two more helicopters and heavy equipment are also being mobilized to support fire suppression efforts. No structures are being threatened at this time.
The public can expect to see increased smoke in the area over the next few days as crews conduct burn-offs to establish control lines around the fire.
The fire is burning in the same location as the historical wildfire near Pelican Lake in 2010.
