Man Shot at Camp Near Prophet River

Fort Nelson, B.C. – A young man is in hospital in stable condition  after being shot at a campsite near  Prophet River.RCMP   say there  called  to the rural area just before 11 p.ml on Tuesday night.

A 21 year old man, suffering from a gunshot wound,   was rushed to hospital.

A 41 year old area resident man was arrested without incident and has been remanded in custody while police investigate the shooting.

Charges of Careless Use of a Firearm are being recommended. The accused will appear in provincial court in Fort Nelson on May 29, 2015.

“This shooting appears to be an isolated incident and the suspect was arrested shortly after it occurred. I can assure you that there is no current risk to the public,” says Staff Sergeant Steve McLeod, Northern Rockies Detachment Commander.
