Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond & Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Mike Morris announce $500,000 to create child-care spaces

As part of Victoria’s Major Child Care Capital program, the money allows the YMCA of Northern B.C. to operate the Lac des Bois Family Development Centre within Ecole Lac des Bois Elementary.

The funds will provide 12 spaces for infants and toddlers, 25 spaces for children aged three to five, 24 spaces from school-aged children and 20 spaces for pre-school children.

Construction on the new child-care spaces is expected to begin in June and completed in March 2016.

These new spaces are part of government’s commitment to support the creation of more than 2,000 new spaces province wide by March 2016.

“Many families depend on child care so that they can pursue career and education opportunities, knowing their children are safe and well cared for,” said Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Mike Morris. “By providing a healthy early learning environment where children are encouraged and inspired to grow, learn and socialize, these new spaces will help create a positive difference for children.”

25 spaces for three to five, 20 spaces for pre-school……..isn’t age 3 – 5 considered preschool?

Sounds like something a socialist oriented government would propose. But then, when it comes right down to it, that’s really all we’ve got. Not really a lick of difference between the overall ‘policy’ of the BC Liberals and that of the NDP ~ just the ‘method’ chosen and timing of its implementation sometimes vary. Was a time when ONE income was adequate to not only fully maintain a family, and even a single parent family where that parent wasn’t able to be a full-time child care giver and had to be out in the workforce. Now we have to subsidise day-care, for those who choose to park their kids there, but are unable to come up with what it costs on their own. Lets take that just a little further. Suppose EVERY parent parked their kids in a daycare, and EVERY parent was employed in the workforce. Now would there be enough money to fully fund daycare and still live WITHOUT either they, or the government, going further into the red? Think about it.

No, just like abortion, gay marriage and benefits, sufferage. What was deemed a socialist agenda item, eventually winds up as acceptable to the masses. I would worry less about the state of daycare in this country, and more about the lack of quality old folks homes. Somebody will probably wind-up changing your depends at some point and they will either be an ex-con named bubba, who works for some private outfit, or if the socialists in government get their way, a certified, albeit over-paid professional. You, like children attending a daycare won’t care much about the politics of the issue, but just that it is a pleasant experience.

I see Ms. BOnd is catching up on her photo ops…. I see Morris has dragged himself out of whatever hole he was hiding in…haven’t heard hide nor hair of him in a long long time…good to know he still lives.
