Prince George, B.C. – The cause of a residential fire in the Hart has deemed “suspicious” by Prince George Fire Rescue.

15 firefighters responded to the blaze in the 3300 block of Austin Road East at around 7:30 last night.

Assistant Chief Darrell Kloschinsky says crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the basement of the home but says they were able to knock it down quickly.

He estimates damages at approximately $75,000 adding fire investigators will be on scene today looking for a definitive cause.

In the meantime Kloschinksy says the investigation has been turned over to the RCMP.
