ICS Offers Innovation Grant
Prince George, B.C. – Calling all innovators.
A new grant is being offered that will allow post-secondary students the chance to gain practical work experience and training with a northern technology company.
Innovation Central Society (ICS) executive director Robert Quibell says it’s through the Innovator Skills Initiative (ISI)
“It gives students the opportunity to get work and we’ll pay for half of it,” he says. “So up to $7,500. Someone can hire a student so they’ll get exposure to work either in innovation or entrepreneurship that leads to innovation.”
Quibell says the company must be based in north central BC and working with ICS and notes projects must be related to technical or business skills development.
He says the grant is a great way to help foster innovation in northern B.C.
“It’s huge. I know that the average job in technology pays 29% higher than your average job. My goal is to create a $100 million business here in the next five years.”
