Prince George, B.C.-  Provincial NDP Leader, John Horgan made an afternoon stop in Prince George  while on his way to a  public meeting  set for this evening in Quesnel.

Party faithful  put on a bar-b-q  and Horgan told the  80 or so folks  who attended the event in  Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park,  “It’s less than two years to  the next ( provincial )  election. I know I’m pretty keen on that and that’s when  change is going to come to the North , that’s when change is going to come to Prince George.”

Horgan has been  meeting with  industry and community leaders in his various stops in the Province.   He told the group he was recently late for such a meeting  “I was supposed to meet with them at 9:30 a couple of weeks back, and I hate being late,  but it was  about  a quarter to 10 when I finally got there, and I said,  I’m terribly sorry, I apologize, but I just had to take a call from the Premier of Alberta, and I have never done that before.”

Horgan says  if  political  change is possible on the other side of the Rockies  “We can certainly have change in Prince George and we desperately need change in British Columbia.”

Horgan and MLA Judy Darcy, the NDP’s health critic,  have been  visiting various communities to get  a flavour for health care issues.    That is the  subject of the meeting tonight in Quesnel, and for one that will take place in Prince George Monday night at the Coast Inn of the North.

Oh look, the NDP and another ‘this time it will be different’ gathering.

Health care issues? Like the one in the CN Centre back in the summer of 2000?

Shhhhhh Slinky, we’re not supposed to remember that, let alone speak of it! ;-)

I remember that health care rally that I attended in 2000 and the Have you had enough rally. Both of these events came at the end of the NDP government. The BC Liberals were not elected until 2001.

I must not be following politics too closely. Wasn’t even sure who this guy was. About 1% of the city population turned out for this event? This guy is steam rolling along. May be 3% by the time the next election comes around. When is that again???

That is .1%, if he had 1% that would be between 7 and 800 people
