Prince George, B.C. – Two buildings severely damaged by fire last May in downtown Prince George have been knocked down.
Demolition of the business known as Homework and the building next to it in the 1200 block of 3rd Avenue started Friday afternoon and wrapped up early this morning.
The blaze also caused smoke damage and temporarily forced the closure of popular eatery Nancy O’s.
Investigators were unable to discover the cause of the fire.

As long as the City is in the mood to clean up derelict properties around town…How about forcing Sinclar Enterprises to cleanup the eyesore & safety concern on River Road that was the former Winton Global site?
That is one of many all over the place! I think the new administration is putting some teeth on the toothless tiger of downtown revitalization by removing derelict rat infested semi-abandoned buildings in the core.
Finally some action!
Not sure why everyone is assuming the city had anything to do with these buildings being demolished? The fire didn’t happen that long ago; I’m guessing this demo is being paid for by the owner’s insurance and has diddly squat to do with the city.
The media reported some time ago that it had contacted the owner of that property with an ultimatum to respond or else demolition would start by City crews. This after an inspection was made by the City. So if the owner finally did something it had a lot to do with the City getting tough! Thank you, City!

LOL! The place burnt down on May 7th! They probably finished the investigation last week. I think you’ve confused these some some other derelict buildings.
I believe that the properties that PrinceGeorge is referring to are those on George St, between 2nd and 3rd avenue.
