The Thun family has donated $5,000 to the Salvation Army’s “Back to School” Campaign.

“Prince George is home, and we just want to give a little back to help kids have a great start to the school year,” said Cameron Thun. “And we are very aware of the high cost of school supplies, which is why we have been granting bursaries to four local high school for the past eight years.”

Salvation Army spokesman Bill Glasgow calls the donation “a blessing,” adding “without the generosity we see day after day from our supporters we would have a difficult time doing what we do.”

He says every child who receives a “Back to School” backpack will also get a gift card to help with the rising costs of clothes and shoes.

Thank you Thun family :)

It’s awesome when people who make millions off the locals give back. Way to go Thun family.

Those tax deductions must really help.

@ sunshine.north, way to rain on the parade!

On one hand, you praise the Thun family and on the other, you suggest that they make millions off of the locals and that they donate for the sake of a tax deduction!

How about thanking the Thun’s for having enough entrepreneurial spirit to invest and put at risk their hard earned dollars in order to build a business, create jobs and also give back to their community? Oh, and let’s not forget that they need to make a profit as well, so that at the end of the day, there is something left for them!

I’m not sure what the Thun’s do for a living. Maybe somebody could post this information so that I can make a point of supporting their business!

First Liter Pub I beleive. This family is always donating money to worthy causes. They have even steped up to donate money for a fireworks display when the city couldn’t afford it. Way to go Thun Family.

Good job!
