Numerous Ways to Cast Ballot

Thursday, September 10, 2015 @ 3:50 AM

Prince George, B.C.-  You don’t have to wait for an advance poll to cast  your ballot in the federal election.

You  have plenty of options to make  sure you exercise your  right.

“I encourage Canadians to look at the different voting options and choose the one that works best for them,” says Chief Electoral Officer Marc Mayrand. “Whether you vote at the regular or advance polls, in person at an Elections Canada office or by mail, there’s an option that’s right for you.”

Voters can cast ballots in a number of  ways and days :

– on election day, on Monday, October 19

– at advance polls on Friday, October 9; Saturday, October 10; Sunday, October 11; or Monday, October 12

– in person at any of the 400+ Elections Canada offices across the country, before 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13  The locations in Prince George are

Cariboo Prince George Elections Canada Office at  2005 Redwood Street

Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies Elections Canada Office   in the Parkhill Centre on North Nechako Road

– by mail. Electors must apply to vote by mail before 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13

Electors can submit their mail in application online or mail a paper application form. Forms are available online and at any Elections Canada office or Canadian mission abroad. They can also be requested by calling 1-800-463-6868.

— Electors voting by mail should plan ahead. They must allow time for their voting kit to reach them and for their marked ballot to return to Elections Canada.

— Marked ballots must be received by the election day deadline or they will not be counted. Visit elections.ca for more details.

– To vote, electors must show proof of identity and address. The list of accepted pieces of identification is online.

– Some identification pieces used at provincial and municipal elections may not meet federal election requirements.

– Voting and identification rules are different for Canadian Forces electors, incarcerated electors and Canadian electors who live abroad.

Comments

It may be wrong, but I have heard,
that none of the votes cast in the advanced poll
will be counted unless there is a recount…
can anyone confirm or refute this?

The stupidest thing I have ever heard. I won’t even dignify that rumour by spending any more time on it than it took to read the comment and writing this comment.

Why is it stupid? Because it would deny a voter the duty to have a legal vote counted.

Now mind you, given the history of our current PM with respect to the rights of Canadian citizens, rumours such as that can actually become believable.
