Prince George, B.C. – If the Vancouver Canucks are going to repeat what they did last year and make the playoffs, then they’ll need to be good early.

That from Vancouver Canucks play-by-play broadcaster John Shorthouse, who spoke with 250 News Friday.

“A good start’s imperative, you can’t fall behind early,” he says. “And hopefully they can do that when they open in Calgary in a couple of weeks.”

But do the Canucks have the horses to do so considering other teams in their conference (LA, Calgary and Edmonton) made some high profile additions to their rosters?

“I think they (Canuck management) feel they’ve gotten stronger too and maybe it’s not quite as apparent because maybe the moves they’ve made haven’t been as sexy as some of the other teams, but they feel they’re in a good position,” says Shorthouse, who declined to make any predictions going into this season.

“I never really like to make predictions because I am wrong most of the time. I was, like most people, a little surprised last year at how well they did,” he says. “I think there were questions about whether the Sedins could bounce back and play the way they did and I think in that regard there’s a more positive feeling this year because they did prove that they still have some gas in the tank.”

Well I’ll say it, they’re not making the playoffs!

IM not so sure about this years outcome? IF they do make the playoffs, it isn’t going to be easy. They are going to have to show up every night and play like they have gravel in their gut and a burr under their saddle. Probably a slow start with some humility thrown in until the right chemistry is found. Then turning it around mid-season with their strongest finish ever in franchise history.

MAN would I ever love to be headed to training camp this year, what an opportunity. No ones job is safe this year.

To all the fair weather fans. I’m not saying our team is a lock to make the playoffs. But if we do. How many of you will be driving around with your flags hanging from the windows of your vehicles? Win or lose always a Canuck fan.
