Charity Golf Tournament a Record Breaker
Prince George, B.C. – The final numbers are in and the Cougars Alumni Charity Golf Tournament in July was over the top.
The Prince George Cougars in conjunction with the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation have announced that $102,061.16 was raised during the two day event at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club. That’s a new record and pushes the total raised since 2012 to more than $232 thousand dollars. The alumni/live auction from Friday, July 17th alone raised over $67,000.
The dollars raised this year will be put towards the purchase of a Medtronic Paceart Optima System and Blood Pressure Monitors for the cardiac lab, which will help with early detection and accurate diagnosis of heart-related conditions in patients of all ages.
Also, because of the overwhelming generosity from tournament supporters, additional funds will be directed towards equipment to detect, diagnose, and monitor the treatment of cardiac patients. Spirit of the North is working alongside Northern Health and cardiac specialists to determine the best use of additional funds that have become available. The official cheque presentation for this year’s event will take place on the ice prior to puck drop at the Prince George Cougars home opener on Friday, September 25th against the Everett Silvertips.
