Prince George, BC – Today marks the start of BC’s winter tire rules, so tread carefully…

“It’s our annual reminder to drivers to ensure your vehicle has winter tires if you will be travelling on designated routes, and to ensure the tires are in good condition, with appropriate traction,” says Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, Todd Stone.

Motorists must have winter tires labelled with either the Mountain Snowflake symbol or the Mud and Snow (M+S) symbol from now until March 31st if they want to travel on any highway in northern BC, as shown on map below…

The RCMP really need to start enforcing this law. I’ve never heard of anyone getting a fine yet it is an extremely important part of the winter living in our area. Everyone who lives here knows someone who has had an accident on slippery roads.

The map is misleading. Winter tires are law on almost every highway in BC except for the Lower Mainland west of Hope, the Sunshine Coast and a few select highways on Vancouver Island.

I am waiting till late October to get mine changed.

I don’t know anybody. If I was selling studded tires I would want y put them on now. Then I could sell y a second set before winter is over.

And yes the cops arnt getting money fast enough. What a joke.

And by December you will need to replace your winters.
