Prince George, B.c.- The Northern B.C.  Tourism  has been given an innovation award for the Northern B.C. Tourism Plaza that was a highlight of the 2015 Canada Winter Games.

The award, presented by Destination B.C. and the Tourism Industry Association of B.C., recognized the Northern B.C. Tourism Association for its inventive approach to increase the number of visitors to and within British Columbia.

“The Northern B.C. Tourism Plaza helped showcase our region during the 2015 Canada Winter Games. It was the place to be and often there were long lines as visitors and residents alike came to learn more about the amazing communities in Northern B.C.,” Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond said. “None of us will forget the great entertainment, displays and participation of the Timber Kings that we enjoyed in the Tourism Plaza. The team did a fantastic job and it is great to see their work recognized in this way.”

“The Canada Games have given our communities lasting legacies, including the Northern B.C. Tourism Plaza,” Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Mike Morris said. “The plaza was a huge collaborative effort. I want to thank everyone involved for their work on this project.”

The plaza, built in partnership between the Northern B.C. Tourism Association and Tourism Prince George served as an interactive public space during 2015 Canada Winter Games. Artists and storytellers used their craft to showcase the region to the rest of the province during the Games. The plaza promoted and continues to promote the Super, Natural British Columbia® brand and regional travel experiences.
