Cougars Trade Goalie
Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George Cougars have traded 20-year-old goaltender Mack Shields (Saskatoon, SK) to the Medicine Hat Tigers in exchange for a seventh round pick in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft.
Shields joined the Prince George Cougars as a free agent prior to Training Camp in 2015 after spending his first three seasons with the Calgary Hitmen. For his career, he has dressed in 106 regular season games and has compiled a record of 60-29-0-3 with a 2.85 goals-against-average, an .895 save percentage and six shutouts. In eight games with the Prince George Cougars, Shields went 3-3 with a 3.29 goals-against-average, an .880 save percentage and one shutout.
“We are very happy that we were able to find a place for Mack to continue his WHL career as a 20-year-old,” comments Prince George Cougars General Manager, Todd Harkins. “During his time in Prince George, he conducted himself with the utmost professionalism and class. He’s a great leader, a great teammate and we wish him the very best moving forward.”
With this trade, the Prince George Cougars roster now sits at 24 players: Two goaltenders, nine defencemen and 13 forwards. This trade also leaves the Cougars with a vacant 20-year-old roster spot.

Be nice if they could find another Fiddler type guy for their 3rd 20 year old
For a seventh round pick? And just a couple days ago Tyler Mrkonjic for a 6th round pick??
They’re not getting nearly enough in return.
They should be trying for 2nd, 3rd round picks; not the bottom of the barrel.
If they really want to become a top contender they need to make better trades.
They weren’t going to play, so getting anything is good.
