AQ Advisory for Vanderhoof

Vanderhoof B.C.- An Air Quality advisory has been issued for Vanderhoof because of elevated levels of fine particulates, PM2.5.

The provincial air quality objective for fine particles, PM 2.5, is 25 micrograms per cubic metre, averaged over 24 hours.

As of this morning, the 24-hour PM 2.5 rolling average is 41 μg/m3 at Vanderhoof  and increasing.

This advisory will  remain in effect until further  notice with an update to be provided tomorrow morning.

Smithers is under an air advisory as well, due (according to the news) to a cold air inversion trapping smoke from wood burning, which is loaded with fine particulates! People with breathing problems are advised to stay inside.
