Prince George, B.C. – It has been  two  years since the Prince George Fire Rescue, members of the International Association of FireFighters Local  1372 started raising funds to  support a suite at the new Burn Fund Centre in Vancouver.

The local pledged to raise $100 thousand dollars to fund a suite in the new centre which will be a home away from home for those recovering from the trauma of  being burned.

“Being burned is like being in hell” says a burn survivor who has experienced the difficult journey.  “A centre like this will give survivors a home away from home where they can get the treatment they need and have their family with them”.

There were a number of events held in the Prince George area to raise the dollars to support one suite.  PG Fire Rescue member Brian Burleigh is Local 1372’s Burn Fund rep “We’ve done various fundraising things from car washes to bar-b-qs . We did our first ever calendar and we have a few other major things in the works.”

The Burn Fund Centre will officially open later this week and “Suite 205” bears a plaque saying it was made possible because if the efforts of the members of IAFF local 1372.
