Prince George, B.C.-  It will be a  while before  Continental Way  in Prince George is cleared  of  a load of logs.

A logging truck lost its cargo  on that roadway  this morning near the  Highway 97 overpass.   There is no word on the condition of the driver.

Removing the  logs from the roadway will take some time.  Detours are available.

how did he do that. The cab isn’t flipped. he didn’t fall off the highway, so was he travelling down the continental way, decided to make a run to get on the highway?

Was he trying to avoid a oncoming traffic, or fell asleep.

If you look.at the photo closer, the cab is on it’s side. I think he was cutting close to the curb to make the corner and caught it with his trailer tires. Momentum took over after that. Lucky that he was the only one there. Hope the dude’s okay ,

But how did the truck get up into the grassy side hill heading for the under pass?

Truck looks upright to me.

Cab is on its side.. Speed was probably the culprit.

Logs almost rolled off the bunks, if speed was the issue I doubt the logs would still have the binders on them. only the middle one broke the chain/cable.

OK, I see it now, the mirror on the doors looked like cab ornaments.

Looks to me as if the cab plus trailer were far to the right some 10 feet plus from the sidewalk, partially up the embankment when it turned on its side as it was tilted with the right wheels up the embankments.

Likely jumped the curb far out of range of the picture to the right, tried to correct or maybe not even that.

Why did that happen?
Dozing off?
Inattention to the road?
Mechanical failure?
Medical issue?
Avoiding an animal?
…. who knows.

And we likely will never know because these things are generally not followed up, perhaps because they can’t be since it is a matter under police investigation/courts, etc.

As someone who travels this road frequently, this “accident” makes me angry. Drive with due care and attention, I believe the law says. Hopefully the driver is not hurt because that person should be paying a lot more attention than he/she was. If the driver reads this, my messages is “you jerk, you could have killed someone, including yourself. Please think about the other people on the road and those you have at home.”

Hey you idiot, sorry I meant bornandbred, where is your proof the driver is at fault in anyway in this incident? For all we know it could have been you that caused it.

At least 2 of the 3 sets of wrappers did their job and held the bundles together. I stay well back from these CTL trucks since seeing logs on side of the road and ditch north of Bear Lake, back bunks must have been MT by the time he hit the scale.

As for cause…

A chip truck driver blinded the logging truck driver with his high beams cause he did not like the lights on the front of the logging truck, thought they might not be up to code.

You know you’re a tool right?

When they built this they didn’t put in the correct road angle, it actually kicks you toward the wall that the firetruck is near. You really have to be careful when it is icy. I am not sure what this fella did?!

You should know the facts first bornandbred. This driver suffered a medical issue and that’s why he went off the road. He is alright. I was on sight and from what I was told was not charged.

The only thing that is known for sure is dumbfounded is a truck driver.
