Matt Pearce Honoured at PGDTA AGM

Tuesday, April 26, 2016 @ 12:25 PM

Prince George, B.C. – The memory of Matt Pearce continues to live on in Prince George.

Last night the Prince George District Teachers’ Association posthumously provided a lifetime membership to Pearce during their annual general meeting (AGM).

“We wanted to honour Matt for all the work that he had done us,” says president Richard Giroday. “It was a wonderful opportunity to recognize the wonderful things he’s done and it’s unfortunate that it couldn’t be him there to receive it but his family was there and friends.”

Pearce, who passed away in January, is the ninth teacher in the district to receive such recognition.

The PGDTA also voted on their executive last night with few changes. Richard Giroday will stay on as president, Joanne Hapke moves from 2nd vice-president to 1st vice-president and Daryl Beauregard is the new 2nd vice-president.

Susan Trabant held on to her post as treasurer and past president Tina Cousins goes from past president to secretary.

All positions are for a one year term.
