Prince George, B.C. – This weekend the LGBTQ community, friends and family will be celebrating Pride in Prince George.
This morning, Mayor Lyn Hall and Councillor Frank Everett were on hand to see the Pride rainbow flag raised at City Hall.
“It is hugely important to see this flag fly at City Hall” says Stacy Hewlett, President of the Prince George Pride Society. “It really shows where this community has come. When this (Pride celebrations) first started, we did not have the support of Council. What the Mayor and Council have shown over the past five years is phenomenal, they continue to show that support and we are thrilled.”
The highlight of the Pride celebrations is the parade through the downtown core. It is set to start at 11 in front of City Hall, and will likely take about an hour to move through the downtown.
The Pride festival on the City Hall grounds starts at 10am Saturday and runs through until 4 p.m.

Oh-oh, get ready for the hate filled, ignorant, and homophobic comments everyone!
Smithers folks are doing burn outs on their rainbow crosswalk . What a brave thing that must be for a homophobe . Not only stupid but wasteful . Nice pic of their work in the interior news .
Lol yah PG was the last of the hold outs on this. Like the smoking indoors. One of the last communities to rid that. Was real hard nose place. Gotten a lot better though I think.
Why did the rainbow colours get associated with LGBT?
