Prince George, B.C. – Mountain bike enthusiasts of all ages will want to head out to Otway Nordic Centre this weekend.

‘A Hot Day at Otway’ Part II Mountain Bike Festival goes Saturday and Sunday and will feature live music, a barbecue and plenty of races.

“It’s the second year we’ve done it,” says spokesman Andrew Steele. “We’re going to be featuring cross-country races and an Enduro as well as a kids’ clinic and a kids race (on Sunday). And all that’s going to be integrated with some local music, some food and some fun side contests.”

And though online registration has been sluggish so far he’s expecting a good turnout.

“So far there’s not a huge number of people registered but that’s pretty typical for a mountain bike event – a lot of people just register the day of,” says Steele.

“Last year we had 71 riders across a couple of classes and this year we have additional classes and have expanded from a one-day to a two-day event. So the target is a 100 riders across all of the various classes.”

He says those interested in participating can register at Ruckus, Cycle Logic and Koops Bikes or on site prior to each event.
