Valemount Glacier Destination Resort Takes Another Step Forward
Valemount, B.C. – A major project in Valemount is one step closer to reality.
This as the provincial government has approved the Valemount Glacier Destination Resort’s master plan.
The proposed project is located west of Valemount in the Cariboo Mountains and proponents say it would provide a big economic boost to the region.
It has the support of Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond, area First Nations, local residents, community groups, the Village of Valemount and the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.
The resort would bring year-round glacier skiing, gondola access for alpine sightseeing, and a 2000 bed-unit resort village.
The proponent will now work with the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations on the master development agreement.
The agreement is a land use contract between the resort proponent and the Province and details how the resort will be constructed and operated.
Once this agreement is in place, construction on the project can start.

This project will probably die a slow and painful death. The Left, enviro nuts, and the natives will bleed the process so that it will be so cumbersome and expensive that it will never happen. The article states the natives are on board but what about the other 7 native nations laying claim to the area? Also when the gravy doesn’t flow freely the natives will stop the project with the help of fellow “professional” protesters. Sad because this is exactly the type of project the area needs but the attitude is that any development is bad is the prevailing attitude of a small minority with a LOUD voice.
Whaaaaaaaa.
Election is coming. Seeing that your air miles have to be used up before the end of the year maybe we could all donate them to Air Canada to fly our beef to China.
I am just wondering how many other big projects that Shirley is going to pull out of a hat before the next election. I am sure there will be many to get us all excited.
Optimism is one of the prime attractions of this site, eh?
Hey there Old Man, do we still have the best economy out of all the provinces? Best blame Christy, LOL.
Would love to see this resort transition in to reality, if only for the folks in Valemount. Love visiting that area just to talk to the locals, great bunch of people.
I think this will go through.
Hey Grizzly2; has BC not had the highest child poverty rate in Canada? Has BC cities and towns not consistently had the highest crime rates in Canada? Best blame Christy… NOT A LAUGHING MATTER!!!
Hey there Grizzly it has already gone through–In one ear and out the other. Just great to make these announcements before an election. I am surprised there was no picture of Shirley. Kinda sounds familiar like LNG. Funny how many other provinces are also claiming they have the best economy.
