Prince George, B.C. – There are only a few days left to turn over your firearms or other weapons to police.
The month long provincial gun amnesty wraps up Monday night and applies to documented or undocumented firearms, weapons and ammunition.
Those wishing to take part are asked to contact the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 and arrange for an officer to retrieve your weapons.
From October 1st to October 25th police in Prince George have received 22 requests from the public and have seized 35 firearms (7 guns, 22 rifles and 6 shotguns), two pellet guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition.
Those wanting to dispose of any items are reminded not to bring them to the police detachment.

Seized 35 firearms? 7guns, 22 rifles and 6 shotguns?
Seized?
Are guns different than rifles and shotguns?
Not so obviously means 7 handguns.
“There are only a few days left to turn over your firearms or other weapons to police.”
After that are we criminals?
If you know of anyone thinking of turning in any firearm, please ask them to contact one of the firearms safety instructors.
These folks can deactivate them and use them in their courses. I understand that one you hand them in to police they are not permitted to give them to instructors. Firearms used for safety training wear out quickly so they are always having to be replaced. One reason for the costs going up.
