Prince George, B.C. – Those looking for something to do this weekend are welcome to check out the outdoor ice oval at Exhibition Park.

This as the Outdoor Ice Oval Society confirmed this afternoon it would be opened for limited hours this weekend.

President Kathy Lewis says they’ll be open Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 p.m.

She says they’ve curbed the hours “so that we can continue to build ice.”

Lewis says weather permitting, they will start their regular schedule next Monday.

Yesterday Dick Voneugen told 250News the Society was gunning for a weekend opening but said it was dependent on how quickly they could make the ice.

Well I guess its cold enough outside for water to freeze ;)
Glad they will be able to form a really good base, that should ensure a good season of skating ahead. It will get well used during the holidays coming up no doubt.

It’s either too cold, snowing, too warm or raining. If that track isn’t indoors, it’s just a waste of money unfortunately.

If the Society could get some funding to have refrigeration put in, then the track wouldn’t need to be inside.

Personally, I would rather see the track kept outside than moved inside.

I always find minus 15 is good skating weather and it’s going to be that during the days or warmer for the next two weeks all sunshine… So I bet it gets a lot of use in the weeks ahead.
