McKinley comes to the District from the Northern Development Initiative Trust where he worked closely with the District in his role of director of economic development for the past eight years.
The District notes his resume also includes 12 years of program and project management experience with the provincial government.
“Dean is a talented executive with a well-established reputation and network in the region. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Dean in his new role as CAO,” said Mayor Pat Crook.
McKinley replaces the departing Peter Weeber who first joined the District in December 2014. Weeber has accepted the CAO position with the City of Penticton.
