Man Arrested in Hit-and-run Incident
Prince George, B.C. – A youth was seriously injured in a hit-and-run incident early this morning.
Prince George RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass says at around 1 a.m. police were called to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at the corner of Rainbow Drive and Liard Drive.
He says they arrived to find a 14-year-old girl suffering from serious injuries. Douglass says the driver of the vehicle “initially stopped, but fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival.”
“It appears that the small SUV was westbound on Rainbow Drive and struck the northbound pedestrian crossing Rainbow Drive,” says Douglass. “A North District RCMP collision reconstructionist was called in to assist with the investigation. The scene was closed for a number of hours.”
He says investigators later arrested the suspect – a 31-year-old man- at a residence on Irwin Street who does not have a valid driver’s licence.
Douglass says the investigation is ongoing and encourages witnesses to call police at 250-561-3300.
