Prince George, B.C. – The Cariboo Cougars are the BC Major Midget Hockey League champions for 2016-17!

The Cougars put together a textbook game from start to finish on the way to a resounding 4-0 victory over the Greater Vancouver Canadians ion the third and deciding game of their championship series Sunday at Kin 1.

The troops of General Manager and Head Coach Trevor Sprague scored a goal in each period plus one into an empty net with less than two minutes to go and used the stellar goaltending of Marcus Allen to spur on a basically flawless defensive game to take the title.  They had come up short in the BCMML final series in each of the past two years.

But that’s all behind them as they now prepare to host the National Triple A Midget hockey championship, the Telus Cup, at CN Centre April 24th to 30th.

More to follow on today’s game.
