Cougars Take 2-1 Lead in Series
Prince George, B.C.- The Prince George Cougars have downed the Portland Winterhawks 6-1 to take a two to one game lead in their playoff series.
The Winterhawks drew first blood, when Skyler McKenzie scored just 14 seconds into the start of the game, but that would be the only goal the Winterhawks could muster.
The Cougars Jansen Harkins would score at 8:26 to even it up, and then Kody McDonald would score the go ahead goal at 12:36 of the first period. Colby McCauley would add some insurance at the 17:42 mark.
At the 12:03 mark of the second period ,the Cougars were on the power play. Tate Olson would take a lone shot from the point and the puck would get past Winterhawks goalie Cole Kehler to push the Cougars to a 4-1 lead.
The Cougars would continue the pressure in the third, with Brogan O’Brien scoring to make it 5-1, the first goal he has scored since January 28th. Just a few moments later, Jansen Harkins would score again to make it 6-1.
The Winterhawks then pulled goalie Cole Kehler, and put in Shane Farkas for the balance of the game.
