Talk about a HUGE disappointment!!
I said it before that I didn’t think this team was that good.
Portland will be the team to beat in the future though for sure.

Downhill slide after the trades. Too bad. It will be interesting to see how the organization can bounce back.

Wont be much to work with next year. Cougars went all in with the trades. Guhle was a great pickup, but Bondra and Popugaev went invisible for large parts of the season. The season from a hockey perspective will be viewed as a disappointment to go from #1 ranked team in the country to an early playoff exit to a younger Portland team.

On the good side though, it got PG excited for Cougars hockey again and the team had sellouts.

Now lets cheer on the other Cougars as they try to win the Telus Cup!

Very disappointing, but easy to see it happening. They were far too inconsistant to be an elite team!I actually believe we had a better team at the beginning of the year than at the end, and the playoffs proved that. The guys were much hungrier early on, and the bottom guys worked hard to get ice time.

I always thought that the trades didn’t help. They ruined chemistry and I noticed players like Bethune getting less and less ice time. The guys that got this team noticed and into the CHL rankings all of a sudden became 3rd and 4th liners with no PP or PK time. Popugaev was an absolute joke. I have never seen such a big guy play so small. He constantly coughed up the puck. Did nothing in the playoffs. I guess we will see what happens next year. If we are going into the down turn on the Junior hockey scale and all we got was a divisional banner and a first round playoff exit, fans might not be coming out in the same numbers.

I am a long term fan and will continue to be , but as long as we are venting I will keep adding thoughts as they come! It really pissed me off every time they introduced the starting lineup! The players just coasted out with no effort or emotion like they didn’t care! This may have been by design, but if you are going to do that, just stand on the blue line and nod your head when they call your name! You are trying to energize the crowd by looking lethargic!
