Poll Shows Economy Main Issue in Campaign
For the first week of the Provincial election campaign 250News asked “What do you see as the main issue in this election?”
Three of the 8 areas presented, resulted in the Economy being the top issue. 31% (419) checked off this issue as their main concern.
Second most popular, was Fiscal responsibility, as 301 votes (22%) were cast on that item.
Health Care rounded out the top three with 20% (263votes) saying it is their main issue.
Although there has been much talk about boosting the minimum wage, only 2% (32 votes) were cast by those who feel that is a major issue, and child care only garnered 21 votes (2%)
Concerns about the environment netted 117 votes or 9%, putting it ahead of affordable housing/ poverty reduction which closed off with 100 votes or 7%.
The category “other” ended up with the same percentage as affordable housing/poverty reduction at 7% although it finished with 95 votes.
In all, 1348 votes were cast in this non-scientific poll.
