Prince George, B.C. – Here is the latest information on the rockslide which has closed Highway 16 near the BC-Alberta border.
The highway remains closed about 5 kilometres east of the border, from the west gate of Jasper National Park to the Jasper township. The Alberta Transportation Ministry indicates that the road will remain closed overnight and as yet there is still no estimated time of re-opening.
The ministry says motorists should expect delays of over 6 hours.
The huge rockslide occurred early Friday morning. An update is expected at 8 am Saturday.

This story makes no sense. If the hwy is closed overnight how can there be delays over 6 hrs?
Dumbfounded, the story probably quotes from the Drive BC website. That website doesn’t always have the correct info on it as myself and others found out yesterday re the Duffy Lake road closure/opening.
