Prince George, B.C. – City sports fields have opened for the year and it certainly didn’t take long for them to start being used.

The fields opened at 7 am Saturday and shortly thereafter hundreds of young athletes and their parents gathered at one of the best-utilized recreation facilities in Prince George, the Rotary Soccer Fields, as the Prince George Youth Soccer Association kicked off a new season.

City officials kept a close eye on the fields and the weather on Friday after a severe weather warning was issued for the Central Interior.  However, Prince George avoided the brunt of the storm and the heavy rainfall which had been expected and the fields opened as planned.

The soccer fields came alive with the energy and smiles of kids having fun, as they should, as age group after age group kicked off their new season.
