Forest Fire Closes Highway 97 South of Quesnel

Quesnel, B.C. – A wildfire has closed another stretch of B.C. highway – this time Highway 97 15 kilometres south of Quesnel.

Drive BC notes an alternate route is available via Highway 16 through Prince George to Tete Jaune Cache then Highway 5 to Kamloops.

The estimated time of opening is currently not available.

There are currently two fires burning in the Quesnel area – one at Dragon Mountain, the other at Maize Creek.

Wildfires have also closed Highway One in both directions from Ashcroft to Cache Creek, from Cache Creek to Clinton and Highway 20 in both directions from 14 kilometres west of Alexis Creek at Anahim Reserve to 30 kilometres east of Alexis Creek at the top of Lee’s Hill.
