Prince George, B.C. – Today’s 20th annual Pride Parade drew a huge crowd to downtown Prince George.
A nice cross-section of people was visible along the parade route with organizers expecting up to 2,000 people to show up.
Prince George Pride Society president Stacey Hewlett says despite a few hiccups Pride Week has been a success.
“It’s been a challenge this year because we had a quick venue change that we had to deal with but the community and everybody else just stepped up to the plate and here we are, 20 years of Pride.”
A lifelong Prince George resident, she says the community has come a long way.
“It has and I think it does every year. You have to grow or you fall behind. And I think with the city council we have and Mayor Lyn Hall, he’s been spectacular. We’re so fortunate.”
The Pride Festival continues until 3 p.m. outside City Hall and wraps up tonight with the Pride Dance Party at the Black Donkey Cafe.
