Evacuation Alert for Some Williams Lake Area Residents
Prince George, B.C. – The Cariboo Regional District has issued an evacuation alert for residents on White, Ross and Glen roads area of Williams Lake.
The map of the area impacted is available here.
The evacuation alert comes as more than 200 wildfires continue to rage in the Province.
Those already forced from their homes in the Cariboo have been making their way to Prince George, where an emergency operations centre has been set up at the College of New Caledonia. About 150 evacuees registered at that centre last night, and approximately 80 people stayed overnight in the CNC gymnasium.
The Northern Sport centre is also being prepared to accept evacuees and UNBC is making a student residence available for those in need.
All evacuees are being asked to report first to the College of New Caledonia as that is the official registration site.
