Evacuation Order for Northwest Arm of Quesnel Lake
Williams Lake, B.C. – Effective immediately, the Cariboo Regional District has issued an evacuation order for areas on the northwest side of Quesnel Lake and one for the Maeford Lake area.
This order replaces the order issued on August 5, for the north arm of Quesnel Lake and the alert issued August 6,, for the northwest side of Quesnel Lake .
Due to immediate danger, members of the RCMP or other groups will be expediting this action. The evacuation route is by water or by Spanish Lake Road.
For those being forced from the Maeford Lake area, about 10 kms northwest of the north arm of Quesnel Lake, the evacuation route is: West to Likely on the Cariboo River FSR (8400 Road) or North to Barkerville on the Mathew Valley Road (8400 Road)
Those who have accommodations arranged can register at ESS in Williams Lake at Boitanio Mall between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Those needing group lodging are to register at the ESS Reception Centre in Prince George at the Civic Centre at 808 Canada Games Way.
