Williams Lake, B.C. – Some good news for those forced from their homes because of the Hanceville-Riske Creek wildfire south of Highway 20.
The Cariboo Regional District has rescinded an evacuation order for part of the region, specifically, from Churn Creek to Southern Cariboo Regional District Boundary. This order is replacing the South of Highway 20 to Southern CRD Boundary and East of the Fraser River.
The evacuation alert for the areas North of McCauley Lake to Gavin Lake has also been lifted.
An Evacuation Alert or Order may need to be reissued if that is deemed necessary.
The area South of Highway 20 to Gang Ranch and East to Fraser River remains on Evacuation Order.
Areas that are still on evacuation order will still be enforced by members of the RCMP or other groups due to immediate danger to life safety due to fire.
