Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George Symphony Orchestra launched a new season with a new maestro at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park Sunday afternoon.
The free Pops in the Park concert launching the Prince George career of maestro Michael Hall (below) featured a host of well-known, favourite tunes from several Broadway shows including Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Man of La Mancha, Showboat and many others.
As well, the orchestra was joined on stage by local vocalists Catherine Hansen McCarthy and Jon Russell for both solo and duet performances.
And this time around the concert in the park stayed in the park whereas last year PGSO members and the crowd were forced by a thunderous downpour to flee the outdoors and complete the performance at St. Michael’s church.
Quite a sizeable crowd settled into their lawn chairs or relaxed on a piece of turf to enjoy the opening of the 2017-18 PGSO season.
