Prince George, B.C - Westjet Services at the Prince George Airport will have a bit of a different look from September 2, 2008 to September 30, 2008.
As YXS is under construction, Westjet will be bringing in Dash -8 planes from Terrace instead of 737s.
Todd Doherty, Prince George Airport Authority says the change of plane is because one runway is under construction and the other is too short to accommodate the large planes, “We want to continue to offer all three flights during this time so we have done everything we can by partnering with both carriers. Westjet will be leasing a small aircraft and Air Canada added legs to pick up the slack as each plane will only be able to accommodate 37 seats as opposed to 136 passengers on the larger planes.”
Doherty adds the shorter runway is just one of the reasons for the needed expansion.
