Prince George, B.C.- July turned out to be a positive month when it comes to tourism for Prince George. Michalle Clarke, the Manager of Tourism Prince George says the number of visitors is up over July of last year.
“We had a 5.4% increase in parties (more than one person) and a 3% increase in visitors last month” says Clarke.
In July of last year there were 3,033 parties and 6008 visitors, last month there were 3,197 parties and 6200 visitors.
The visitor centres also track the requests and the top four are:
- Accommodations
- Site facilities
- Transportation ( i.e. best routes to avoid highway construction)
- Attractions
Clarke says the numbers already look good for August “We aren’t even half way through the month and August looks very solid. We are seeing a lot late travellers heading to Alaska, normally they have already passed through Prince George and there is a lull at this time of the summer, but we are still seeing a lot of people heading north.”
