The price sign  will tell you if a gas station has any regular gas. If the pump is dry the  price will be zeroed out.

Prince George, B.C. – If you see a Petro Can gas station  and the price of a liter is noted as “00000” that’s the signal that station is out of gas.

Petro Canada  is experiencing a shortage of gas because of a problem at its refinery in Edmonton. A catalytic cracking unit, a key part in gasoline production , had to be shut down. That is limiting the supply of gasoline and Petro Canada has temporarily reduced the volume of gas it delivers to its customers and associates.

That means, there may be some dry pumps at some stations in the B.C. interior and in Alberta. Spokesperson Kelly Stevens says the shortages could impact any of the Petro Canada gas stations outside of the lower mainland.   That includes Quesnel, Prince George,  and all points east, west and north of Prince George.

Petro Canada has taken several steps including:

  • Trying to repair the unit safely and as quickly as possible.
  • Adjusting national and local distribution channels to maximize gas availability in Alberta and B.C.
  • Making sure that in communities where Petro Canada is the only supplier, that there is fuel for emergency services such as police, fire and ambulance services.
  • Deploying as many trucks as possible to move gasoline into the area and working through supply channels to source additional gasoline supply.

Stevens, says the repair will likely take a couple of weeks rather than a couple of days “We need to ensure we make this repair quickly and safely.” She says there is a team of talented personnel investigating the cause of the breakdown in what she refers to as the last stop before the product becomes gasoline.

The good news? Stevens says she is happy to report the shortage does not impact diesel or jet fuel supplies.
While the price of gas is  impacted by supply and demand,  Stevens says that is a global market issue and this matter with Petro Canada is not expected to cause an increase in price at Petro Can pumps.

"Petro Can Pumps At Risk Of Running Dry"
-Simular to our wallets running dry after fueling up. Suffer petro!!
Interesting...
seems to me they got their fuel from the same refinery here in PG as all the rest of the stations...
could this just be another way to gouge some more??????
Gotta feel for the owners of the retail outlets; they'll feel the pinch long before the big outfit does.
Isn't that refinery in town a Husky refinery? Why would they supply fuel to Petro Can? I'm surprised gas stations aren't using this as an excuse to raise prices.
Husky supplies fuel to all the other service stations..
Not to Chevron they don't.
and not to ESSO either!!! It is shipped out of Alberta for these ones!! So there you go, support Alberta's economy, buy Chevron, ESSO, and now apparently, Petro Can!! Wake up Prince George, buy fuel from the stations that are supplied by our local refinery!! You will then see some price breaks, and only then!!!
seems like Petro Canada does not get fuel from husky aswell
Just trying to drive prices up.
Okay, can someone please tell me what gas stations our refinery supplies. I have absolutely no clue. And if we have a refinery here, why are our prices still so high at these pumps?
Hope everyone is having a good day! :}
