Lions Football....SO HAPPY TOGETHER

Despite the Lion’s cardiac football 40-34 win over the Eskimo’s last Friday night in Vancouver, this team continues in it’s search for it’s soul.
OK, I know the good guys won and the potential for the angry marauding mobs pouring out of late night Vancouver drinking establishments onto Granville and Georgia streets in the post game melee has for now been temporarily avoided, but is this just a brief calm before even more football futility.
The game was not only close at the end but it may have been a matter of the Esks second half theatrics simply running out of time, saving the Leos the possibility of again snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
As TSN’s Perry Lefko said this week...”They won their last game, but just barely. So stay put.”
By no means at this point can it be said that this team is destined for a proverbial wreck but as matters stand, the BC Lions still lacking an identity, continue down the slippery slope of under-achievement....even in light of their most recent outcome.
As we all wait for the real 08 version of our local heroes to stand up (and be counted), and in an effort to get on the list of people with no end of solutions to Wally Buono’s conundrum.....
I have this theory:
I thought it interesting that in the light of a new day following last weeks win, to read a team member say that fans have nothing to worry about, cause they are the same team today that they were last season.
"Pro" player opinion not-with-standing he's dead wrong.
With players actually thinking that way and verbalizing their thoughts, outside of their minimal player personnel challenges coaching now know what must be overcome to get the train back on the tracks.
This player's oversimplification of reality, and narrow view of the world is that his team is the sum of it's talented parts, all onlookers should be grateful for that and winning is just a matter of time away. Some however would say that for the team to be running at peak proficiency there is an absolute need to be better than that oft’ used erroneous standard.
When coaching and players are united in a just cause than very powerful intangibles like digging deep for real character, playing for the other guy, respecting their challenger and honoring their builder Bobby Ackles in the appropriate fashion come into play, and individuals than find themselves on the same page.
At best they become brothers with a common purpose, and the heart replaces the head as the most important component in moving the physical being to action.
High performance machines wired in this fashion are very difficult to neutralize, but so far the Leos have been running on just enough gas to barely keep them on the road.
And on that note he smashed the 10 commandments at the feet of the guys being bad.

Great comments.I agree they aren't on easy street which I'm sure they will find out next week when they meet Calgary.
