Two People In Hospital Suffering From Listeriosis ( Tainted Meat )

Northern Health officials continue to closely monitor the condition of two patients, one in Prince George, the other in Ft. St. John after one woman died and at least 16 others got sick from Listeriosis in Canada.
In both cases in the Northern Health region the people were being for unrelated illness. Northern Health is now saying that they are watching people who are already ill or pregnant women, because in the case of pregnant women, the disease could cause miscarriage.
The Public Health Agency of Canada says one person has died and at least 16 others are suffering from Listeria Monocytogenes. 13 in Ontario, one in Saskatchewan, one in Quebec and the two reported in BC.
Earlier in the day, Maple Leaf Foods announced it was expanding a recall of its packaged meats because they might contain the Listeria monocytogenes strain and said it was temporarily closing a Toronto plant that prepares the products
"I strongly advise the public, especially those at high risk for listeriosis, such as the elderly, pregnant women and those with weak immune systems, to make sure they avoid consuming these products," Dr. David Bowering, Chief Medical officer of health for Northern Health says
