Prince George, B.C.- The name  of the man killed in a crash west of Fraser Lake on Tuesday has been released.

The victim  is  85 year old John Richard Gintz, of Sultan Washington.  He was a part time resident of Fraser Lake.

Mr Gintz died when the 2002 Buick Le Sabre he was driving was struck on the driver's side by a 1995 Ford F350 pick-up from Oregon. The two occupants of the pick-up truck were not injured in the crash and continued on their trip to Alaska.

The collision occurred when the 2002 Buick entered Highway #16 from Stella Road. The 1995 Ford pick-up truck was travelling westbound on Highway #16 and was unable to stop for the Buick and collided in a T-bone type impact.

The investigation, at this time, indicates that alcohol was not a factor in this collision. The occupants of both were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash. Certainly the occupant restraints prevented the occupants of the Ford pick-up truck from sustaining any injuries.

The Vanderhoof Traffic Services Unit and the BC Coroners Service continue to investigate the collision, in an attempt to establish the causal factors. Mechanical inspections of both vehicles, witness interviews and an autopsy will form part of the continued investigative process.

Anyone who might have witnessed the collision or who has information for the investigators is asked to contact the Stuart-Nechako Traffic Services Unit at Tel# (250) 567-2222 or the Fraser Lake RCMP Detachment at Tel# (250) 699-7777.
