Prince George, B.C. - Dogs of all kinds and their owners walked the Greenway trail near UNBC today to take part in this year's Paws for Cause campaign. Sydney Redpath went with her sister, her mom and her two dogs, Dexter and Bella.

“I mostly target fundraising for the SPCA because we got our dog from [them],” says Redpath. She says it's an organization dear to her heart. “We were really, really glad that they took care of him until we found him and I think dog owners that actually got their dogs from the SPCA are more willing to donate.”

Fundraising coordinator Rita Katzel-Wiebe says all the money they've raised will go towards the North Cariboo SPCA's shelter in Prince George. “We're trying to raise $50-thousand dollars here and this is just one of 37 communities in the province doing this,” says Katzel-Wiebe.

She says the money will be used for Veterinary Medical expenses as well as for future 'reconstruction' of the shelter. “People can still donate to the Paws for Cause campaign by bringing money to the shelter or by coming to today's event,” says Katzel-Wiebe.

Festivities at the Greenway trail parking lot continue, with a dog agility demonstration as well as a barbecue until 3pm today.
