It baffles me as to why there are so many accidents on that stretch of road. I drive it often and the highway is not one that is difficult to drive, however in the past couple years it seems more and more accidents are occuring.
I agree zoom!
There does seem to be a lot of accidents on that stretch, but I can also say that much of it is the drivers themselves.
Way too many idiots out there, but I have never found the road itself that bad.
I drive it all the time, and I have been passed on a double solid line more times than I can count!
There also seems to be a serious lack of police presence out there as well, but that seems to be the case everywhere now.
Time the cops got out there on a regular basis and slowed 'em down!
looks like the traffic just started moving again....
My condolences to the family of the person that died. May those who were injured have a speedy recovery.

Such a gorgeous sunny day...and so sad that this happened.
I was driving back to prince george from Houston last week and purposely set my cruise control to 100km to see how many would pass. Everyone passed me, not lots passed me, EVERYONE. cars, bikes, trucks EVERYONE. I guess all these people are not concerned about gas prices. they all cry about it I'm sure but doesn't seem to matter when driving.

As an aside, usually one the easiest places to get a speeding ticket is just before the Burns Lake city limits, either end of town.
I think the guy lives out there 24/7 and he is not kind man!
He writes BIG tickets and has a bad attitude!
Guess he was on his day off when vocer came through!
Beware!
I don't think speed is a problem. I drive that highway a lot and rarely do I get passed with cruise set at 100kph. The worst place for passing by far is just west of the Beaverly Petro-can because trucks have no speed after climbing the mud river hill going East uphill to town. The area of the accident is more of a fall asleep area where people seem to fall asleep and drive off the road a lot. A rest stop on the lookout at the top of the hill with a water fountain overlooking the lake would probably go a long way to fixing that problem IMO.

A far bigger problem on local highways I think is the side road intersections and the lack of signage for side roads. Most of the side roads don't have turn lanes, or merge lanes, and most drivers easily forget they share the road with others when turning on or off a major highway that is 100kph-0kph and vice versa. I think for some the decision making due to bad road design at 100kph or even 70kph for some not familiar with the area trying to figure out where they turn can be as much of a hazard as any speeder or even a drunk would have when it comes to defensive driving awareness.

Sometimes accidents just happen and there is little we can do about it but give condolences. This easily could be one of those circumstances....
I ran chiptrucks for years from PG out west. For the life of me I don't recall this stretch of hwy where this particular incident occured as being a place where so many incidents have been happening as stated above.
Are you meaning the hwy from PG all the way to Prince Rupert perhaps?
