White Powder Raises Alarm

Members of the  P.G. Fire   department   deploy equipment to handle  report of suspicious substance

Prince George, B.C. -  The hazardous material team of the Prince George Fire Department is on scene at the Barton Insurance drive through site at 20th and Victoria.

An employee at the insurance company discovered white powder in an envelope and immediately called the fire department.  The incident is being treated as  a Hazardous material  incident and members who are trained in Chemical, Biological, Radiology, Nuclear, Explosives ( CBRNE) are on site.   They will be able to investigate and identify suspicious materials.
The area has been secured and the fire department is on scene.
The eight  employees who were on  scene when the suspicious letter was discovered, have  gone through a decontamination measure just as a precaution.
The RCMP are now investigating the  origin of the  material and are asking the public to stay away from the area until notified otherwise.
